The Front creative group was the guest of honour at our stand for Design Week in Stockholm, where Moroso could not fail to number among the many leading international design companies.
Very recently nominated Designers of the Year by the German magazine Architektur und Wohnen and by Elle Decoration Sweden, the three young creative artists talked to journalists throughout the day at Moroso's stand.
On this occasion the Moroso space design was based on colour and illusion, as Emiliano Calderini, the space's designer, explains: "in an area suspended between the floor and the ceiling, coloured threads create an empty space where products are displayed and interact. Like a vast spider's web where the products generate their own dimension". The threads formed areas where products were displayed, such as Fergana, Patricia Urquiola's new seating range, and the Spanish designer's Rift sofa and chairs.
A particularly intriguing play of light and shadow distinguished the area devoted to FRONT's Moment Collection where the three sofas, Soft Wood Sofa, Cushion Sofa and Draped Sofa, were illuminated by shards of light passing through the threads. The threads in this area were black, because black is the sum of all the colours of the products in the installation and to highlight the collection concept based on the use of photographic images to create an illusion of movement on the surface of the products. The effect is therefore a mingling of real and printed lights and shadows.
A completely different atmosphere reigned in the zone of the M'Afrique outdoor collection, while a luminous-yellow area showcased two new products: YY-Chair by the For Use designers, a chair made of oil-finished solid oak, a simple, elegant design which nonetheless creates a high visual impact. It was shown next to Ron Arad's No-Waste table. Nika Zupanc's Tailored Chair has a soft, graceful feminine shape, a unique chair which can be customised like an outfit.
Lastly, the Carpet Reloaded for Moroso Golran rugs created a two-dimensional, harmonious effect among the other products on show.
