The second Moroso Prize for Contemporary Art, organised in association with the GC. AC of Monfalcone, was devised to document, promote and sustain emerging artists who live and work in Italy.
A shortlist of finalists was selected in Spring by the first selection committee led by Andrea Bruciati, head of the Galleria d'Arte Contemporanea (GC.AC) of Monfalcone; Patrizia Moroso, the company's art director; and artist Tomàs Saraceno. The finalists then showed their works in December in the Monfalcone gallery.
Then a technical jury - composed of Ron Arad, designer; Anders Byriel, managing director of the Danish firm Kvadrat; Michele De Lucchi, architect; Marianne Goebl, director of Design Miami; and Jérome Sans, critic and curator - chose the three artists who win the opportunity to execute a site-specific project for Moroso showrooms across the world.
The first project will start on 8 March when Andrea Mastrovito's pop-up books will lend vibrant colour to the Moroso showroom in New York. Then Loris Cecchini will create an installation in Moroso's London showroom in October. Lastly, Dragana Sapanjos's creativity will burst into the Milan showroom in June.
Furthermore, special mentions were given to Gianni Caravaggio and Luca Pozzi.
