Metals

Complex designs, innovation and new technologies have brought about the use noble materials such as solid wood combined with metal in various types, forms and variants.
This combination has allowed us to offer increasingly unique products with marked aesthetic features and sturdiness that is suitable for their use.
The need to combine complex, but slender shapes with resistant materials has forced us to choose various types of steel, aluminium, brass and other metals that are processed with the most varied technologies possible (from bending, calendering, simple cutting, die casting, to polishing or painting, chrome-plating, galvanising, etc.).
Our polyurethane foam products are made with an internal frame in steel, welded with robotised or traditional methods, depending on the case; it is suitable thanks to its sturdiness and ease with which the designer can satisfy any demand, and to the fact that it is mass produced, thereby allowing large quantities to be reproduced with the same quality standards.
When slender shapes have to be visible and have shiny or polished surfaces, the choice is chrome-plated steel, or painted steel using epoxidic powders; both processes offer excellent resistance to ageing and the finish maintains excellent quality levels even after extensive use.
For particular products and components, nickel-chrome stainless steel is used due to its particular aesthetic and mechanical characteristics, together with its resistance to atmospheric agents, and suitability to being machined in some of the most complex ways. Nickel-chrome stainless steel is a prestigious and resistant material and has been tested for use in the production of furniture.
In fact, some of our most exclusive products, such as 40/80, Lowseat and Lowland, have stainless steel elements, which have been die formed.

Aluminium becomes indispensable in structures and elements where the lightweight and particular shape and finish must reach a perfect harmony; in most cases, die cast, or chilled cast aluminium is chosen and then polished. A die cast or cast element guarantees adequate uniformity and sturdiness of the material and is easy to polish.
Worthy of mention is the material used for the line of Springfield occasional tables and the bookcase Pause: honeycomb aluminium. In fact, this is a panel with an aluminium honeycomb sandwiched between 2 aluminium sheets.
The machined panel is joined with high resistance bonding agents and screws.
The metal components used for the Moroso product do not need any particular care, especially when used for non-visible parts, covered with polyurethane or other material.
Do not expose the product to excessive changes in humidity or directly to water, especially salty water, as the surface finishes may deteriorate.
To clean metals in general, whether painted or polished, do not use chemical or abrasive products, solvents or similar products as they may scratch the surface. Chrome-plating is cleaned using specific products only.
Contact or shocks with painted, polished or chrome-plated parts should be avoided so as not to scratch or damage the finishes.
